Introduction

First up, I am NOT an SEO guru by any means and any advice in this post shall be taken with that understanding.

But, I have been able to use the Gohighlevel website builder to rank better on Google and I wanted to share with you what I have done.

With the note that SEO is a continued work in progress.

This will be the first of many SEO posts for High Level.

First, Why Use The Gohighlevel Website Builder

A website whether on WordPress, Squarespace, Wix, or Gohighlevel is just a container that manages the HTML Code.

Some will say WordPress makes SEO easier with plugins but WordPress themes can also be a lot to build, manage and maintain.

Go High Level just makes it a bit easier for non-tech people to create a website and blog.

It is not the plane it is the pilot - meaning if you give the tools good data it will do great things with that data.

WordPress vs Go High Level Websites

WordPress has the reputation for being the website builder of choice. I recommend you use WordPress if you are a hard-core blogger.

WordPress does have plugins that will help with SEO - but you are able to manage the SEO without them.

Something to think about: All WordPress sites share the same IP address. This creates a bad neighborhood and if you have one bad one…. It muddies the waters for us all.

Load Speed

The other thing that helps with SEO is fast load times.

Gohighlevel loads fast - this matters sometimes more than the words on the page.

Security

The other thing to think about is the hosting and the security of your site.

WordPress is notorious for being hacked.

Gohighlevel is more secure.

I recommend WordPress if you are wanting to rank on Google and other search engines for really competitive keywords like health, or marketing and if you are a massive full-time blogger.

The Truth

Most of us aren’t.

We just want to rank for our name, along with our products and services.

You need to land on the first page of Google for yourself.

Gohighlevel can help you do just that.

In my experience, many are not. A stripper with the same name will come up above them.

This is not good.

I suggest you Google yourself.

• Do you show up as the first result?

• What else shows up?

• Do your offer names even show up?

• Do you fill the first page?

• Are your social media profiles coming up?

Here’s How I Would Set Up Gohighlevel For The Best SEO Results.

Before you start to build a website or write a blog post you need your copy and images.
These need to be optimized for SEO.

Copy

The structure for copy is H1, H2, etc. H1 is your heading and there is to be only one H1 per page or article.

Then you structure out your copy with H2 headings. These are keywords, preferably long tail keywords you are trying to rank for.

“ Long-tail keywords are longer and more specific keyword phrases that visitors are more likely to use when searching.”

Images

Large images slow down page load time so it is best if you compress them before you add them to your website or blog. 

I use https://compressnow.com/ it is free.

There are also these available for image resizing/compression:

If you are a local business it is important to change the location data of your images and it is a great tool to see the location and change it.

Image Meta Data viewer:

You also need to add Image Alt Text for SEO when uploading images to your website/funnel or blog.

Steps To Take Inside The Gohighlevel Website Builder

There are some fundamental steps you can take in the website and funnel builder in High Level to optimize for SEO.

First, your URLs and paths. Name them and keep them as short as possible. The internet likes short URLs.

Next, add in your SEO Meta Data.

You need to add the following information to your SEO Meta Data.

• Title

• Description

• Keywords

• Author

• Social Image

• Custom Meta Tags

• Description is one option - add a description of what the page is

Adding Copy

Make sure you add the appropriate text type to your copy.

You can select H1 - H6.

When Uploading Images

Be sure that the image is named accordingly. Do not add an image that has 237614282914.png as the name.

Also, ensure they have been resized/optimized for the web.

Be sure also to add the ALT TEXT (FOR SEO!)

Tip

If the social share image that is pulling for your funnel or website is not the correct one you will need to run the URL through the Facebook Debugger tool. This will pull the correct image you have set.

Page Load Speed Matters!

Increasing your page load speed increases your search results. 

I use https://gtmetrix.com/. 

It gives me my page speed load time and offers suggestions on how to speed things up.

Run your domain through this and see the areas of improvement you can make.

The SEO Tools I Use

I have 2 simple tools I use:

AHREFS: https://ahrefs.com/ 

With AHREFS I can see a lot of valuable information about my domain etc.

Keyword Finder: https://kwfinder.com/

I use this tool to find keywords and ones that I can rank for more easily.

This site: https://www.seotesteronline.com/ is the one I will upgrade to next as my level of knowledge around SEO increases.

I have the list of keywords on a spreadsheet and I look at the keywords as I am creating posts and use them in the copy and images.

As I mentioned at the beginning of this post, I am NOT an SEO Guru. I am playing the game at about 50% but that is better than nothing.

It is a good start. I recommend you do the same.

Recommendations

Create a Site XML Map.

What is an XML sitemap?

An XML sitemap is a file that lists a website's essential pages, making sure Google can find and crawl them all. It also helps search engines understand your website structure. You want Google to crawl every essential page of your website.

Set Up Google My Business

Having a GMB profile will benefit you especially if you are a local business. I would set one up even if you are not. 

I post regularly to mine. It doesn’t hurt. You can start to ask for GMB reviews which will also increase your ranking on Google.

Every little bit counts.

This is not an exclusive list….

But it is a great start to having your website or funnel ranked higher by the search engine on Gohighlevel.
