If you’ve ever wondered if you need a Facebook pixel on your Clickfunnel account (or any website, for that matter), the answer is one hundred percent yes!  Now, some of you are already familiar with the concept of Facebook’s pixel and just want to get to the part about adding it to your Clickfunnel account.  You can watch the video tutorial right here:

Some of you might be wondering what in the world a Facebook pixel is!  If that’s you, don’t worry. We’re not only going to talk about why you need it and how to add it to Clickfunnels, but we’ll also talk about what it is and how it works.

What is a Facebook Pixel?

That’s a really great question!  Many people ask me that, so you’re not alone.  Remember back in the camera days? We used to talk about how big a photo is, and we used the term “pixel” to describe an image’s size.  We’d say that the size is 5,000 by 400 pixels, or whatever dimension was right for that image.

So, pixels are these little, tiny dots, so small that you really can’t see them individually.  If an image is 5,000 by 400 pixels, that means that it has 5,000 of those little pixel “dots” across the width, and 400 for the height.

Now, we use pixels to describe the size of screens.  Your iPad, your cell phone, your laptop, even your TV all have pixel dimensions.  Websites are measured in pixels as well. Clickfunnels, for example, is about 1,920 pixels wide in the background.

Imagine those thousands of tiny dots and visualize ONE of them as a tiny piece of code that hangs out in the background, watching and keeping track of traffic that comes and goes on each page.  When you install the Facebook Pixel on your Clickfunnels account, Facebook places a one pixel by one pixel piece of code on your account. It blends into the background and you can’t see it, but it’s a powerful tracker that compiles all the data from your visitors and stores it for you inside your Facebook ad account.

Why is the Facebook Pixel so important for you as an advertiser or marketer?

The Facebook Pixel is keeping track of people who visit your funnel.  It takes note of where they come from, what they do on each page, what actions they take, and so on.  This data can lower your cost of advertising a great deal because it streamlines the process of finding the exact right leads on Facebook.

Without the pixel, it would be very difficult and expensive to track down the right leads and market to them.  With the Facebook Pixel, it’s a simple matter to find the people who’ve already checked out your funnel and market right to them!

Let’s Set up the Facebook Pixel on Clickfunnels

  1.       The first step is going to be getting your pixel out of your ad account in Facebook.

Let’s do that now.

Go to business.facebook.com.  If you’re not familiar with Business Manager yet, head on over here for a quick tutorial to get you set up!

  1.       Once in Business Manager, you’ll need to click on the little “hamburger” menu at the top left of the screen.  You’ll get a menu that looks like this:

  1.       Now, select “Pixels.”

This video  gives a quick explanation of setting up ads accounts in Facebook.  You get just one Pixel per ad account, so you’ll need to make sure your ad account is up and running. If you have more than one ad account, you’ll have access to additional pixels.  For now, though, we’re just going to focus on one!

If you do have more than one ad account, make sure that you’re on the right one!  When you are ready to set up your pixel, click on the account you want to get the pixel for, and you’ll be taken to this page:

Creating the Facebook Pixel

You’ll want to have one pixel per type of audience you are targeting.  This is important, because if you’re using the same pixel to track and gather data on a 35-45 year old woman who’s starting a new business and a 20-something woman who is buying formula for her baby, your pixel won’t perform well and the data you get will be confusing!

Your ads will end up in front of the wrong people and won’t perform well for you, costing you a tremendous amount of money.

  1.       Now, click “Create a Pixel,” and let’s get started!

  1.       I recommend that you name your pixels well, especially if you’ll be working with a lot of them.

Give them a name that lets you know at a glance which ads account it is associated with, as well as the purpose for that pixel.

  1.       Now that your Pixel has a name, click “Create” and the first thing you will see is this screen with three options:

The first option is “Use an Integration or Tag Manager.”  That’s a little more advanced, and we’re going to skip that for now.

  1.       Next option is “Manually Install the Code Yourself.”  This is what we’re going to do today, so go ahead and click on that.

Go ahead and ignore the first part, and scroll down until you see this (you will need to hover your mouse over the code to be able to copy):

Facebook Pixel Setup

Simply click where it says “Copy Code to Clipboard,” and you’re on your way!  Once you’ve copied the code, your pixel code area turns bright green and you’ll be able to paste this code right into your website, or in this case, your Clickfunnels account!

  1.       Before you do that, it’s a good idea to save your pixel code someplace where you can easily find it again!

You don’t want to have to jump in and out of Business Manager every single time you want to grab your code.  A little “pro tip” is to create a spreadsheet that has all the info you need to build your funnels and save it in there.

Note: if you’re not into doing your own code, and you want to have someone else do it for you, you can click the third option, and it will send an email to your developer!  So easy!

How to Install the Facebook Pixel on Clickfunnels

  1.       Now, let’s head over to Clickfunnels!

We’re going to install this pixel in a couple of different places.  The first one is in the settings level of the whole funnel.

  1.   Go to “Settings” in the upper right-hand corner of your Clickfunnels account, and you go right to this screen:

  1.   Scroll down a little bit to where it says “Head Tracking Code.”  If you grab the corners of the box, you’ll be able to resize your box so you can easily place the Pixel code.  Click in the box, and use Ctrl+V (PC) or Command+V (Mac) to paste your copied code right into Clickfunnels.

I like to hit enter and put my Google Analytics code in the same box!  When that’s all done, scroll to the very bottom of the page and click “Save and Update Settings.”

Installing the Facebook Pixel on the Funnel Level

  1.   Now that we have our Facebook Pixel installed on the overall account, we’re going to go to the funnel step level.

Over on the left side of the page, you’ll see where it says “Funnel Steps,” and below that are each of your funnel pages.  Select the first one.

  1.   Click on “Edit Page.”  This will take you to that page.  Up on the top, left-hand side of the page, click “settings,” then “Tracking Code.”

This will open up a screen where you can paste your tracking code.  It defaults to the header code, which is exactly what you want. Go ahead and paste the Facebook Pixel tracking code there, then click Save before going back to your funnel steps.

Does your Clickfunnels account need a Facebook pixel? Most definitely- yes! The Facebook pixel is a powerful tool when it comes to tracking data to and from your site. In this detailed tutorial you will find out how to set up the Facebook pixel on Clickfunnels so you can start making smart, data-driven decisions when it comes to your sales funnel! #pamelajoandale #clickfunnels #salesfunnels #facebookpixel #digitalmarketing

Repeat steps 12 and 13 as many times as you need to for every step in your funnel!

Testing the Pixel

  1.   Next, you’ll want to copy the URL of your funnel so that you can test your Pixel and make sure everything is connected and working properly!

Head back over to Facebook Business Manager.  Right below where you grab your Pixel’s code, you’ll see a place to put a URL for testing:

Facebook Pixel Clickfunnels

Past the URL there and click “Send Test Traffic.”  This will open up your funnel. You don’t need to do anything here.  Just go back to Business Manager and wait until it says “Active” with a little green dot!

When it shows “Active,” you are ready to go!  Your Pixel will now begin tracking and collecting data for your funnel that will help you run your ads like a true ninja!

How to Use the Facebook Pixel Helper

The Facebook Pixel Helper is a powerful little tool.  It is a simple Google Chrome extension, available in the Chrome Web Store.  All you need to do is search for “Facebook Pixel Helper,” and it will show right up.  Click “Add to Chrome,” and you’ll see it in the extension bar next to your search bar on Chrome.

This now tells you if there are any pixels attached to websites you’re viewing!  This is so handy if you’re an agency and looking for new clients.

Checking Back for Data

By now, you should have your Facebook Pixel installed into your Clickfunnels account and everything should be working!  In a few days, you’ll be able to start seeing data come in as people visit your funnel. This data will tell you where your traffic came from, who your visitors are, and what they are interested in. You’ll be able to see if they are progressing through your funnel, or if they are bouncing. This can help you identify week spots in your sales funnel! The Facebook Pixel is truly one of Facebook’s most valuable tools.

Log back into Facebook Business Manager, click the “hamburger” menu over on the left, and select “Pixels.”  You’ll see a screen that has a list of all your pixels. Click the one you want, and you’ll see a screen that looks like this:

Facebook Pixel Setup

As you get traffic to your funnel, this will start to populate with data that you can use to optimize your ads and significantly decrease the amount of money you’re spending on ads!

If you ever lose your Pixel code or forgot to save it somewhere, you can easily find it again.  On this same page, you’ll see “Set Up” over to the right near the top. Click there and you’ll be back to the pixel set up screen where you can copy your code again!

Optimizing your Sales Funnel with the Facebook Pixel

The final step is to analyze your data and use it to help you optimize your sales funnel and streamline the experience for your clients and buyers!  Amazing, right?

Now you have the ability to see which parts of your funnel aren’t functioning the way you’d like them to.  Maybe you’re having a lot of people opt in, but they aren’t converting to sales. The data from your Facebook Pixel will tell you where things are falling apart.  You’ll be able to see exactly which step of the funnel is losing people so that you can go back in and change it!

This amazing little piece of code will take much of the guesswork out of advertising, funnel building, and e-commerce.  I’d love to hear about what you learn about your clients and your funnels after you install the pixel on Clickfunnels!!  Let me know in the comments!
