A lot of people use MailChimp with ClickFunnels and it’s really simple once you know how.
Let’s jump into ClickFunnels and have a look around.
The first thing that we’re going to do is go over to the right-hand side under your account and go to “integrations.”
Then, we’re going to “add a new integration” and we’re going to choose “MailChimp.”
Now we can either type it in, or we can search for it and click on it.
The API Key
So MailChimp is asking for an API key. Let’s jump over to MailChimp and have a look.
The API key is just a little bit hard to find. You can either go through your profile or account. Then click on “profile.”
It’s hidden under “Extras, API keys.”
Creating A New API Key In MailChimp
If you’ve got a new MailChimp account, or if you haven’t made an API key before, you’re simply going to create a new key. Now, if you’ve already got one that’s fantastic. It’s that quick!
What I’m going to do is copy that API Key and I’m going to come back to my ClickFunnels account and rename it the PJD MailChimp account.
You’ve got to give it a name just so that if you ever have to bring in one or two MailChimp accounts you wanna be sure that you know which one you’re using.
Then I’m going to drop in my API key and I’m going to add that integration. And just like that, we can see on the right-hand side that it was successfully created.
PUTTING IT IN THE FUNNEL
So now how do we put it on the funnel?
Anytime you have a funnel that needs to submit the page (meaning it needs to gather the name and email address of your prospect or of your lead) you need to be sure that MailChimp is added to the integrations inside that funnel.
We’re going to see that under “settings” on the left-hand side, under “integrations.” We’re going to select MailChimp and then we’re going to “add to list” and then MailChimp is going to populate the list that is made.
You can go over and create a new list and then come back and refresh this API here and then that list is going to populate for you. Now, with MailChimp, what you want to do is you do not send that confirmation email.
It’s that double opt-in that provides that discrepancy that a lot of people see between how many people have opted in and how many people are on their list. Because the client or the prospect is not confirming their email, so they’re not actually going to be added to the list.
That’s one of the issues with using MailChimp. The upside to MailChimp is that it is free so it can get you started.
